What a day to remember last Wednesday as I welcomed good friend and mentor Phil Coulter to Omagh. It was a pleasure to take him back to my old alma mater Omagh Academy to visit the Music Department and get an insight into the daily life and studies of the music students in the school. ![]()

We were thankful to Mrs Rachel Bingham (Head of Music) who welcomed us and gave us a wonderful guided tour. ![]()

We were then entertained by the Education Authority Wind Band and String ensembles who were rehearsing after school. ![]()

Leaders have spoken for years about the integration of education in Northern Ireland, yet music achieves it effortlessly. Each week, students from different schools come together, united by their shared love of music, forming friendships and a spirit of camaraderie that transcend divisions.![]()

My good pal George Hutton was with us for this lovely visit before taking the stage with the maestro that evening for a wonderful performance in a packed Strule Arts Centre, Omagh. ![]()
